In order to guide and encourage undergraduate institutions to attract donations from all sectors of society, Shandong finance issued a matching policy on colleges’ donation income in 2017, stipulating that from 2018, Shandong finance will implement the matching fund subsidy for the donation income received by provincial public regular undergraduate college and universities.
Since the implementation of the policy, by strengthening contact with alumni and actively cooperating with enterprises and other institutions, the donation income of colleges and universities has increased significantly, and the policy effect has gradually appeared.
In 2018, 19 universities in the province received a total donation income of 74 million yuan. In 2019, 22 universities received a total donation of 152 million yuan, 2.05 times that of the previous year. Based on the 1:1 proportion of the recognized donation income, the provincial finance has allocated a total of 226 million yuan of financial matching funds, which were mainly used for teaching and scientific research as well as talent training in colleges and universities.
